  • requires a lot of running, chasing, walking

This game is suitable for kids 7-12 year-olds. This can be played indoor or outdoor when the weather is good for it. Watch for dangerous materials and slippery places where kids can possibly slide or hurt themselves. This requires running and improves children’s big motor skills.

Instruction

This game begins when the players have chosen the “chaser” who freezes the ones he/she touches while saying the word “banana!”.

When the “chaser” catches the child by touching, the player who was touched raises his hands in the air like a “banana” – standing straight with raised hands palms touching each other and freezes in position, until someone “saves” him.

Other players can save him by opening their hands, like by peeling the banana open. This is done by separating the frozen player’s raised and closed hands with own both hands sidewards. It must be done correctly otherwise it is not valid. This is to ensure that the chaser has the ability to win by freezing all the participants. This encourages children to have a chaser role.

How to win the game?

  • When all the players have been “chased and turned frozen”, the chaser wins and a new chaser can be chosen.
  • The “frozen banana” who moves can also replace the “chaser”. This is a faster way of changing roles.

You can change the names of the chaser into something interesting if you wish.
